Birding Classic Team Information

By Diane ProbstPresident/CEO

Birding Classic Birding Competition

The Great Texas Birding Classic was started years ago, 16 years ago, as a matter of fact to highlight the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail. It's mission statement is to increase appreciation, understanding and conservation of birds along the Great Texas Wildlife Trail through education, recreation, nature tourism and conservation fundraising.
I know we have a lot of birders in our area who may wish to put together teams for the competition. We are very fortunate this year to have Bron Rorex and Dr. Edwards working with three youth teams who will be participating.
The Birding Classic website is now updated with basic rules for the 16th Annual Birding Classic held this spring 2012 as well as modified rules for each of the specialized tournaments (Roughwings, Gliders, Human-Powered, etc.), Word and PDF versions of the official checklist, the official team registration form, and a listing of teams who have already registered for this year's event.

The event is more informal this year. As such, the dates are flexible, there are no team registration fees, and the registration form is simplified to capture only the information needed to post your teams on the Birding Classic website.

If you have additional questions after reading through the rules, please feel free to call (512-389-4500) or email me (gtbc@tpwd.state.tx.us) and I will respond as soon as possible.

I hope all of you are learning and enjoying the outdoors!
